2008 National ADDY® winners Jeffrey Fancher, Marketing Manager, Repair and Remodel, and Janet Hansen, marketing communications manager, of Dow Building Solutions. The team's innovative work for the GREAT STUFF™ family of insulating foam sealants earned the highest honor in the world's largest advertising competition, The ADDY® Awards. This was a first effort to promote use of the product in helping with home energy costs using a highly entertaining and educational online game, "The Handyman Challenge."

The Handyman Challenge, an innovative online game for GREAT STUFF™ Insulating Foam Sealant from The Dow Chemical Company has achieved the highest honor in the advertising industry, earning a local, regional, and now, a National Silver ADDY® Award for interactive excellence. One of the world's largest advertising competitions, the creative awards program of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) attracts more than 60,000 entries annually. This is the first National ADDY® Award for the GREAT STUFF line of insulating foam products and a first effort by The Dow Chemical Company to promote its use in helping with home energy costs using a highly entertaining and educational online tool. The top selling brand of insulating foam sealant has been used to fill gaps and cracks in homes for more than 30 years.

The ADDY® Awards Show and Gala was held in June at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta during the AAF National Conference 2008. Dow marketing and brand managers from the Marietta facility were on hand to accept the award with advertising agency of record for GREAT STUFF products, Brunner. The agency, a winner of multiple awards in the 2008 ADDYs, developed the interactive game. The Handyman Challenge invites players to test their home fix-it skills by electronically filling gaps and cracks using GREAT STUFF™ Insulating Foam Sealant and then watching their energy savings add up. Originally designed for a DVD, the animated game was recreated for the web site. With a click of the mouse, players can fill holes around windows, vents, outlets and other energy-robbing areas in and around a home to see how easy it is to save on their monthly energy bill.

"We are thrilled with the response to the GREAT STUFF Handyman Challenge, our first online game," says Jeff Fancher, Marketing Manager, Repair and Remodel for Dow Building Solutions. The ADDY® Award is a special honor. It speaks volumes about the creativity involved in bringing innovative programs to life for users of our products. The Handyman Challenge allows us to share important information about our products and energy saving tips with our customers in a fresh, original way. The possibilities online add to our excitement about the future of our product after 30 years as a staple for home improvement."
